The 2026 World Horseshoe Tournament welcomed approximately 900 competitors and an estimated 3,000 participants, family members and spectators to Greater Wausau during its two-week run. Based on tournament attendance, visitor-spending benchmarks from previous World Championships, Zartico visitor and spending data, lodging performance and participant survey results, Visit Wausau estimates the event generated approximately $3.2 million in direct visitor spending and roughly $5.1 million in total economic impact.

During the tournament period, Greater Wausau hotels and short-term rentals generated approximately $1.75 million in lodging revenue—18% higher than the comparable period in 2025—and visitor spending increased across restaurants, retail, entertainment and attractions. More than 86% of surveyed participants reported exploring Greater Wausau beyond the tournament venue.
